"Founded at the end of the 1980s, Ca’ Lojera was one of the first ‘new generation’ wineries of Lugana. Its wines from the 18ha of vineyard on the coastal flats are now considered among the classics of the denomination, with a prodigious capacity for bottle ageing. The 2018 vintage of the Riserva del Lupo has a nose of dried fruit and herbs, a touch of smokiness and a rich, deep palate with an intense minerally finish." - Richard Baudains
The fruit for the Lugana DOC Riserva del Lupo is picked in late October/early November, as the grapes are hit with Botrytis Cinerea, or the noble rot. This gives the wines loads of richness and complexity. The wine is aged in steel tank (no oak at all) for two years, and in bottle for 6 months prior to release. Aromas of citrus fruit, beeswax, and citronella rise from the glass, and the palate is medium-full bodied and rich. The finish is marked by a subtle hint of green almond balanced by the citrus fruit.
