We’re going up to northern Italy for this one, to Alto Adige’s Südtirol in the Germanic influenced part of the country. Lagrein thrives in this area, and it’s 50% of this blend. The rest is Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a tiny bit of Pinot Noir. The result is a wine with a plummy, dark cherry nose, and a medium body. It’s versatile pairing-wise, as it works with grilled meats or red pasta dishes.
