2015 Domaine La Hitaire Les Tours Cotes de Gascogne
For light and easy quaffing, may we suggest this three grape blend from southwestern France. Wait; but what are these grapes? The bulk of the Ugni Blanc and Colombard grown in these parts ends up at distilleries, destined to be turned into Armagnac and Cognac. Brothers Rémy and Armin Grassa, like their father Yves, find they can make an easy to like, inexpensive table wine from them as well. Blended with Gros Manseng to give it a floral component, the Domaine la Hitaire Les Tours is the exact same blend as Domaine de Pouy (for those of you who remember that wonderful, inexpensive wine made by the aforementioned Yves Grassa). It’s fresh and bright, with zippy yellow fruit, citrus blossoms and a hint of honeysuckle on the nose. The palate is clean and lively, and coming in at 10.5% ABV, you can go ahead and enjoy another glass!
