Pierre Bart represents the 6th generation making wine at Domaine Bart. He began in 2009, assisting his uncle Martin, who took over in 1988. The domaine consists of 22 hectares, mainly focused in Marsannay. The Barts also have vines in Fixin, just north of Gevery-Chambertin. 2015 Red Burgundy is taking on legendary status as more and more of us taste the young, impressive wines. Bart commented that, “2015 gave us the cleanest harvest I have ever seen.” Regarding the wines, he added, “they're concentrated and serious and should age for years yet the velvety textures should allow them to drink well young too.” Domaine Bart’s 2015 Fixin is showing aromas of earthy minerals, forest floor, and dark berries. The palate is old school, with the earthy character, and a rustic array of herbs and spices hovering in the background. We figure a few years in bottle will optimize the experience, so we recommend drinking this from 2022-2030.
