2015 Torre Zambra Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva Brune Rosse

It’s the showpiece of the Torre Zambra line. 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, and it’s only produced in the best vintages. The fruit all comes from the Brune Rosse Cru, a tiny, 4 hectare plot whose vines are over 50 years old. The fruit is usually hand harvested during the final days of October. It’s fermented in steel tank, then vinified in cement for two months before spending 18 months in concrete vats. Then it spends two years in oak botti, which helps form the wine’s strength and structure.

It’s a deep, dark red that’s complex and fragrant. Its deep black hue is truly striking, an appealing inky shade that is perfect for a meditation wine. Hints of ripe red berries woven with nuances of leather, chocolate and cocoa powder will seduce the palate. Firm bodied and exceptionally well balanced, the wine follows through perfectly. It can be enjoyed young, though can develop additional complexity with time in the bottle.
