A recent DOC created in 2011, Villamagna is considered the finest terroir of the Abruzzo, limited to a total of 85 hectares among three municipal districts, Vacri, Bucchianico, and Villamagna. Torre Zambra's hillside estate vines grow at the 500-1000 ft. level with an ideal south-east facing exposure within the village of Villamagna. Torre Zambra is one of only five estates who produce wines from the Villamagna DOC.
In only the best years, Torre Zambra makes a Riserva. The 2015 Villamagna Riserva is a selection of grapes that spend twice as long in new barrel than the Villamagna DOC. Only 100 cases were produced of the Villamagna Riserva and each bottle is hand-dipped in a red wax capsule and hand-numbered. It will make an impressive gift and is a wine that has the structure and amplitude to age.
