Montefalco is a hill town in Umbria in central Italy and also the name of a DOC which was introduced in 1979. The red Sagrantino grape is allowed to be included (10-25%) in the Sangiovese dominant blends. That’s what we have here, 70% Sangiovese with equal parts Sagrantino and Merlot. The wine is fuller bodied with lush aromas of currants and blackberries. Pair with any ragu based dish.
