Domaine Camus-Bruchon is a relatively young estate. Proprietor Guillaume Camus is only the third generation at the helm of this domaine located in Savigny-les-Beaune, just north of the city of Beaune. Originally modest in size, Guillaume notes, “In the 1950’s and the 1960’s my grandmother, despite having limited resources, managed to buy quite a lot of land. Today we have nine hectares.”
As we continue to taste more and more red Burgundy from 2019, we are further convinced that this is a very special vintage that should be purchased with abandon. The Premier Cru Les Narbantons vineyard sits in the south of the appellation, near Beaune. The vines are, on average, 60 years old. Sitting on clay and limestone, his wines from Narbantons are known to be powerful, balanced and complex.
This 2019 beauty will charm you immediately. The nose has a floral note on top of cherries, plums and spice. The palate is impeccable – it’s very complex and balanced and finishes like a champ. Drink 2023-2035.
