Certified organic and vegan, 100% Pinot Noir. Majority of the fruit was de-stemmed to small open tanks where a short, cool maceration was followed by spontaneous ferment. Aged for nine months in mostly neutral French oak. Fragrant, dark berry fruits and red cherry with hints of smoked bacon and spices.
Kawakawa is produced by life partners Andrew Greenhough and Jenny Wheeler. Their vineyards are located in the small, little-known region of Nelson at the northern end of New Zealand’s South Island. The region is surrounded on three sides by mountains and the Tasman Bay, creating a unique microclimate, perfect for growing Pinot Noir.
