Vinent Ledy is a superstar on the rise, who is quietly garnering praise from all those who taste his wines. He’s the nephew of famed Nuits-Saint-Georges producer, Alain Michelot, so it’s safe to assume a little savoir faire has been passed down to a new generation. His wines have impressed us from the first time we tasted them. He founded his tiny domaine in 2006, and crafts wines that are stylistically polished, yet distinctly un-modern. He uses neutral oak in his domaine, preferring 4 year old barrels for aging.
His vines in “La Vacherotte” were planted in the mid-1950’s, they’re mid-slope, and Ledy considers them to be “one of the best spots in Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits. The soil is not very deep. Very close to the rock. It’s clay and limestone. I was very lucky to find it.” 2019 could very well be the finest red Burgundy vintage in a century.
Ledy’s 2019 “La Vacherotte” is expressive, complex and well-structured. This will be at its best from 2025-2035.
