2020 Charlene et Laurent Pinson Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume

Chablis has its share of wine producing families that can trace their lineage back generations, though the Pinsons stand out as one of the oldest, their ancestors having farmed in Chablis since 1640. There is even a Rue Pinson in the heart of the village! For much of the 20th century, the estate was run by Louis Pinson, who produced wines in the traditional Chablis style. Now run by Louis’ great granddaughter, Charlène and her father, Laurent, the tradition continues. 2020 represents Charlène’s 12th vintage leading the domaine.

They farm approximately 14 hectares of vines in some of the appellation’s prime, Kimmeridgian-dominated vineyards. The 2020 vintage was excellent in Chablis, providing plenty of ripe fruit without compromising the region’s tense and zesty typicity. The Premier Cru Fourchaume vineyard is on a southwest-facing hillside just north of the village’s prime cluster of Grand Cru sites.

This Pinson 1er Cru is a lemony, mineral-rich  Chablis, with plenty of zip and a dry, lip-smacking finish. Drink 2022-2028.
