One of the most influential pioneers of single-varietal wines from the Friuli region of northern Italy is Livio Felluga. The Pinot Grigio grapes were hand-picked and de-stemmed. The wine sat on the lees for a few months in tank before bottling. The lees contact adds complexity and richness to the wine. The creamy, rounded palate feel is bolstered by fresh acidity. Aromas of elderflower, peach and hawthorn give way to flavors of stone fruit and notes of citrus. It's luxurious and sleek at the same time.
