2020 Tour de l'Isle Gigondas

Style: It’s a fuller-bodied Rhône blend, 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre. Quite powerful shortly after bottling, it is now just at the beginning of its development phase, allowing secondary aromatic nuances to shine. It’s a fancy red, so feel free to use the good glassware.

Story: Our friend Robert Rocchi has made a nice living in and around the southern Rhône Valley. Once a wine merchant with a brick-and-mortar shop, he made many friends and business partners over the years. After some time passed, he gave up the shop and began working with several growers with vineyards in the region’s prized locales. Robert works with the growers directly in their respective wineries, making blending decisions optimizing the wines’ overall appeal. His skillful touch is well known and appreciated.

Pairings: It’s a fuller-bodied, fleshy red, with aromas of both fruit and spice, and rich, mouth-filling flavors. Southern Rhônes are versatile in the pairing department, and this Gigondas is a good reason to class things up. This wine begs for French comfort food dishes like Coq Au Vin, Beef Bourguignon or Cassoulet.
