Made by the late Denis Durantou, of Eglise-Clinet of Pomerol fame (that wine sells for $300/bottle). Right around the turn of the millennium, he purchased several vineyards around Bordeaux’s Right Bank, Saintayme being one of them. He had a magic touch with all of his wines. Being a Saint-Emilion from 2018, there's plenty of ripe fruit, though it is not over-extracted nor clunky. It is a wine of finesse, with ripeness. It’s 100% Merlot, and the barrel regimen is 30% new, so it’s detectable, yet it is well-integrated.
