Löss is assembled from three parcels: Cognet, Fongeant, and Gerine. It spends approximately 18 months in 1- and 2-year old barrels and is made from 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier from vines of 30-35 years of age. It shows complex aromas of black fruits, and spices, and a touch of wildness; lovely ripe blackberry fruit flavors, with notes of grilled meats and Provençale spices, and a round structure that makes it enjoyable to drink in its youth.
94 points, Wine Enthusiast. "Pristine, cutting flavors of black cherry and cassis accentuate the focused, slightly linear feel of this wine. Made from 92% Syrah and 8% Viognier, it's ripe but restrained, edged by zesty acidity and a fresh, mineral tone. Chalky, mouthfilling tannins extend the finish. Wait to drink till 2022 at least. It should intensify aromatically and gain complexity through 2036 and hold further."
92 points, Vinous. "Deep brilliant violet. Mineral-accented blackberry and cherry aromas are complemented by a sexy floral note and a hint of licorice. Sappy, incisive and appealingly sweet, offering energetic black and blue fruit and violet pastille flavors and a jolt of peppery spices. Finishes sweet and long, displaying smoky mineral and spice notes and smooth tannins." Josh Raynolds
