2020 Michel Briday Rully Blanc 1er Cru Gresigny

By Burgundian standards, Domaine Michel Briday can be viewed as a relative newcomer. The domaine’s history began when Michel and his wife, Lucette, rented 6 hectares of vines in Rully in 1976. Their son, Stéphane grew up among the vines and by the time he worked alongside his parents in the early 1980’s, vines and wines became a burning passion. After several stints in the trade away from Burgundy, Stéphane returned to the family property and is now in charge of the operation. By the mid-1990’s, the domaine began acquiring vineyards.

Now comprising 15 ha in total, the domaine’s holdings include 1.1 ha in the Premier Cru Grésigny, one of the “Grands Premiers Crus” in Rully (A et P Villaine have holdings here). Briday’s vines here sit upon limestone soils with the average age of 60 years. 2020 was a warm vintage, though this Rully has plenty of nerve to complement its rich, fruit driven palate.
