"The 2019 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is a dark, imposing wine. Black cherry, scorched earth, gravel, lavender and incense abound. Our notes: After making wine in the "modern" style for a few years back in the 1990s, he came to believe that traditional old-style Barolo was far preferable to him, and moved away from the oaky, super-ripe, extracted style of Barolo. He also started farming sustainably, with an eye to biodiversity in his vineyards. We say, Thank You! This 2019 is youthful, but with a few hours decanting, will be gorgeous with a good steak, and it will age effortlessly well into the next decade.
