It appears that Antonio Galloni did not taste the newly-bottled wines from the Famille J-M Cazes (Lynch Bages, Ormes de Pez, Haut-Batailley) for his article.
From the UGC tasting in San Francisco:
“Heady, concentrated aromas of dark berry, cassis, pencil lead and black tea with a hint of blood orange and spice. Expecting a burly, full-throttle red, I was pleasantly surprised with this wine’s freshness on the palate. There is a core of concentration, suggesting longevity, though the lively mouthfeel gives it appeal for the nearer term. All the components are in great balance, and though present, the tannins are not in the way of the harmonic, fresh finish.” - PZ

"The Grand Vin 2022 Château Lynch Bages checks in as 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. It actually reminds me slightly of the 2019, and while it's a classic Lynch Bages powerhouse, it has beautiful balance and purity. Cassis, graphite, lead pencil, and chalky minerality all define the aromatics, and it's full-bodied, with terrific tannins and a layered, incredibly impressive profile that continues to open and evolve with time in the glass. Tasted twice with consistent notes."
