What would eventually become Domaine d’Ardhuy was founded in 1930 by Pierre André, and it was during the 1947 harvest when vineyard manager, Gabriel Liogier d'Ardhuy met André’s daughter, Elaine. It was love at first sight and the couple were married in May 1948. Today, their 7 daughters run the estate, farming 125 plots that cover nearly 40 hectares. The Savigny Clos des Godeaux vineyard lies beneath the Bois de Noël, around the bend from the more famous Bois de Corton, and just north of the city of Beaune.
Ardhuy’s 2023 Clos des Godeaux is a smashing success. Its aromas are captivating, a burst of fresh, clean tropical flowers with baking spice, Granny Smith apples and a core of stony minerality. The palate is fresh and vibrant, with all components woven together seamlessly, leading to a lively, harmonious finish. It’s already open for business, so it can be enjoyed from now through (at least) 2033.
