A family affair, Domaine Bart is currently run by Pierre Bart, his uncle Martin, and Pierre’s mother and aunt. Martin is related to famed Marsannay producer, Bruno Clair, as his mother is Clair’s sister, and the family has access to vineyards from the famous domaine, such as Bonnes Mares and Clos de Beze.
When speaking about 2022, Pierre Bart told Burghound, “We waited until the 8th of September to begin picking, which we were able to do quickly as the fruit was quite clean. Yields were excellent if variable with an average of right at 45 hl/ha. While we didn't use whole clusters per se for the vinifications, we did add back from 20 to 40% of the stems that we had preselected.”
Au Champ Salomon lies in the neighboring village of Couchey and is one of 14 lieux-dits belonging to Marsannay under consideration for the village’s first 1er Cru designations.
There are discreet notes of new oak in the aromas, with a dark fruited profile. The palate shows notes of ripe plums and currants with floral hints framed by firm tannins that caress the youthful finish. Enjoy from 2030-2040.
