2023 Domaine du Cellier aux Moines Mercurey Les Margotons Blanc

The historical Domaine du Cellier Aux Moines dates back to 1130. Founded by Cistercian monks, it was the Abbey of La Ferte’s wine source for nearly 7 centuries. After the revolution, it was owned by a local family for 200 years. In 2004, it was acquired by the Pascal family, and by 2006, it had been fully restored and brought back to prominence. In 2015, they completed construction of their gravity-fed vat room, which has 4 levels (3 below ground).

They’re now certified organic and biodynamic (2023/25). The viticulture and vinification are overseen by Guillaume Marko, who trained at none other than Domaine de la Romanee-Conti.

The 2023 vintage in Mercurey was generous in both volume and ripeness, and white Burgundy has a long track record of success in high yielding vintages. This wine is marked by its aromas of citrus, peach, tropical fruit and baking spices. The palate entry is round yet lively, with depth and richness which leads to a complex finish. Drink now-2032.
