2016 was a fantastic vintage all over Bordeaux. Sénéjac is a property in the southern Médoc, west of the main routes des chateaux. Latitude-wise, it is in a similar place as classified growth, La Lagune, also in the Haut-Médoc. For their 2016, there is plenty of fruit and structure, but it is the “freshness,” what the French call “acidity,” that really ties all the components together. As is ages, it's fleshing out a bit, the fruit slowly growing more prevalent, though the balance achieved was impeccable in 2016. We would call Sénéjac an over-achiever in almost every vintage. Quality for price, this is fairly priced, and will last decades. Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot.
