"The 2018 Laffitte-Carcasset is gorgeous, just as it was from barrel. This mid-weight Saint-Estephe impresses with its nuance and delineation. Bright red fruit, iron, menthol, anise, cedar and rose petal lend uncommon complexity, while fine grained tannins give the wine proportion and drive. Laffitte Carcasset is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, though there is a healthy dose of Merlot (70/30) here too and you feel it on the palate. It’s also pretty fruit-driven, though its structure is solid, and you can feel the tannins from mid-palate through the finish. It’s plenty enjoyable, and can last over a decade at least. - TWH
