2022 Domaine Douhairet-Porcheret Vosne Romanee

This new bottling from André Porcheret and his granddaughter Cataldina comes 100% from the rocky, steeply-sloped, nearly "secret" Les Barreaux vineyard. André acquired this parcel from the Chéron family, one of the small handful of owners (which include Emmanuel Rouget, Anne Gros and Meo-Camuzet) of this rather remarkable site. Les Barreaux sits at the top of Vosne Romanée, bordering Vosne Brulées, the Grand Cru Richebourg (!), and the legendary Vosne Cros Parantoux (!!!). Perhaps because so few growers bottle a Les Barreaux, it isn't widely known, making it truly an insider's wine. Porcheret's parcel is a mere .32 hectares of 50+ year old vines. The wine is 100% de-stemmed, and is aged for a year in barrel, with roughly 30% new oak. This is a sensational red Burgundy, with lots of energy, class and refinement. We're not saying it's at the level of Jayer's Cros Parantoux, which would set you back roughly $15,000 for a bottle, but perhaps you're at least curious? You really don't want to miss this.
