An equal parts blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Carignan, this southern Rhone red is plump, juicy and full of intense raspberry fruit flavors. Cairanne, previously a Cotes du Rhone Villages, was elevated to cru status in 2016. The village itself is one of the oldest in the Vaucluse and lies north of the garrigues, which famously impart those desirable lavender, wild thyme and rosemary flavors to the vines.
The breathtakingly beautiful Bastide St. Dominique is a family-owned estate located in Courthezon in the heart of Chateauneuf-du-Pape on what used to be a former Dominican Chapel from the 17th century. It has been in winemaking operation for over four decades. Eric Bonnet is the current proprietor and is responsible for converting their vineyards to organic farming, which was completed in 2014.
90 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
"Red and black fruits, peppery herbs, and some Provençal spice all emerge from the 2022 Cairanne Les 2 Arbres, a medium-bodied, juicy, elegant, and nicely balanced, charming, delicious wine. Based on equal parts Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah, it will drink well for a decade." - Jeb Dunnuck
