2022 La Honda Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Merry Pranksters

Merry Pranksters bears a whimsical label but the wine inside is serious juice!
With the 2022 vintage, the wine is made by winemaker Andrew Vingiello. Andrew made wine for several years in San Francisco garnering high-scores and praise for his Pinot-centric label. Andrew has this to say about the 2022 Merry Pranksters:
“Showcasing the best mountain grapes, a fabulously fruity wine with light tannins. Picked in the early morning fog, fermentation started spontaneously in open-top tanks. 6 months in oak and 1 month in stainless steel. Bottled unfined & unfiltered. Strawberry and black cherry aromas, blackcurrant and blueberry flavors. Deliciously perfect for pranks.”

“Although it sports a fun and retro Kesey-esque label—a nod to the region's hippie roots—this is a serious, ageworthy bottling. Quite thick and dark in the glass, the wine begins with aromas of bittersweet cocoa, black plum and incense on the nose. The palate is bold with flavors of dried berry and pepper, all wrapped in firm tannins. Drink 2024–2036.”
