Bouzereau is a familiar name around the Cotes-de-Beaune, and most, if not all, are cousins. When he’s not playing drums in a Rock and Roll band, Philippe Bouzereau oversees and makes the wine for his family’s domaine, now in its 9th generation. Philippe and his brother Charles have been in charge since 2006, tending over 18 hectares of vines spread over various villages.
Auxey-Duresses is a village in the valley tucked in between the slopes of Meursault and Volnay, just adjacent to Monthelie, west of the famous Routes des Grands Crus. The Les Duresses vineyard is considered by many to be the finest Premier Cru in the village, being just around the bend from Volnay. In Burgundy, it’s all about location and Les Duresses is sitting on some fine limestone soils, lending a strong mineral presence to the wines it yields.
2022 was a ripe vintage for red Burgundy, yet the wines have the lift and energy to complement the fruits’ expression. This Les Duresses is evidence of that with complex, red berry and herbal aromas with a mineral presence. Drink from 2028-2040.
