2023 Mathieu Laboureau Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc Les Pins

Well-seasoned Burgundy lovers hold a soft spot in their hearts for wines from Pernand-Vergelesses due to its proximity to the Bois de Corton and its multiple surrounding Grand Cru vineyards.

Mathieu and Pascal Laboureau represent the 11th generation of winegrowers farming their 15 hectares in the Cote-de-Beaune. They are particular about caring for their soils, employing organic techniques and only using organic, natural fertilizers and treatments produced in the vineyards. They were certified organic in 2023.

The Les Pins vineyard lies west of the Bois and is situated around a bend, just beneath the Sur Fretilles and 1er Cru Sous Fretilles vineyards. It measures just 2 hectares in size with an abundance of chalky soils on its steep slopes. The 2023 vintage was generous in these parts, providing top quality fruit and healthy yields.

This wine is fresh and lively with floral and nutty aromas leading to a mouth feel full of citrus and orchard fruit with a crisp, chalky mineral finish. If enjoying in its youth, we would recommend decanting, though it should drink well from 2028-2035.
